Throughout history, some intriguing inventions were brought to life but failed to gain widespread acceptance

The monowheel, a vehicle where the rider sits inside a single wheel, is one such example, but it was deemed too cumbersome and dangerous. Another is the 1930s "parking wheel" at the back, designed to help drivers park more easily. Finally, an early prototype of a "hover platform" utilized rotor blades to lift the user slightly off the ground.
